Question: Doesn't a mold exist for my current denture?
Answer: That mold had to be broken when creating
your current denture. In fact, a mold has to be made and broken
each time a new denture is made. However, Altadonics' process allows
multiple sets of dentures to be made from the same mold, so your
denture can be replaced as many times as you request.
Question: How often should I replace my dentures?
Answer: Most people would be surprised to discover
that the ADA recommends replacing a denture every 5 to 7 years.
Although dentures are durable, they won't last forever and as dentures
age they become more porous and capable of housing harmful and odor
causing bacteria. The side effects associated with dentures older
than 7 years are numerous and range from accelerated absorption
of the gums, to headaches and bad breathe. Since the mouth is in
a constant state of change a replacement denture every 5-7 years
also helps to maintain a healthy natural appearance. With the Assurance
Denture service each replacement denture will be as comfortable
as your original and will be made with the latest denture making
materials and techniques to further protect your oral health.
Question: What are the most common ways dentures are lost
or destroyed?
Answer: A trip to the hospital, dogs and yes even
falling into a body of water:
Police Frogmen Recover Lost Dentures From Lake
"Swiss police frogmen have rescued a tourist's dentures which
fell into a lake.
They scanned Zoug lake after the man lost his false teeth during
a wrong manoeuvre on a sailing boat.
Divers, who eventually found the dentures after two attempts, are
reported to have refused a glass of wine the man offered them as
reward.
In a letter of thank you sent to Swiss newspaper Zuger-presse, the
tourist said he had "no hope at all that the dentures could
be rescued".
